September 2005 - 'Corporation Pop'

...it was the time when all summer holidays were hot and sunny, or so it seemed. One particular year, following a long hot day playing outside, I told my grandfather that I was thirsty. He said he would treat me to a large glass of Corporation Pop. Imagine my dismay when a large tumbler of water was placed before me. Since then I have referred to water as Corporation Pop and even now tease my own children with the name.

The home of Corporation Pop for many in Lancashire is found in some stunning countryside between Blackburn and Bolton . Turton and Entwistle Reservoir, Wayoh Reservoir and Jumbles Reservoir supply many thousands of homes and businesses with their water and have been doing so for a long time. Wayoh has been operational since 1876 and such is the demand nowadays for Corporation Pop that the treatment works deal with 10 million gallons a day.
